NIS & KBTU: Discovering the world of science

07 April 2026 10:06

At NIS in Almaty, with the support of the school’s Board of Trustees, an introductory workshop on universities in the southern capital has been launched to help develop the research skills of secondary school pupils.

For Year 9 pupils, the excursion to KBTU was a real immersion into the world of science and technology 🚀

The pupils saw how the knowledge they gain at school is directly linked to real-world science and industry, and discovered how scientific ideas are transformed into practical solutions and future start-ups. As part of the educational project ‘My Little Homeland’, a lecture by Nurzhan Beisenkhanov, a professor at the School of Materials Science and Green Technologies, generated great interest in the Laboratory of Nanotechnology and Alternative Energy Sources, where pupils received valuable information on the structure of wind turbines, solar panels and water purification devices.

Practical demonstrations were also given on how ore is purified of impurities from other metals, how the percentage content of chemical elements can be determined, and how robotics is already facilitating many areas of human activity today.

The path to the world of science begins at NIS.
