One of the largest international scientific conferences in the field of education, ECER 2026, is currently taking place in Tampere, Finland. The conference brings together researchers, academics, and educators from more than 70 countries around the world.

The main theme of this year’s conference is “Knowing and Acting: The Changing Conditions and Potentials of Education Research.”

As part of this important international platform for the global education community, teachers from Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Aktau presented the results of their research projects.

Kazakh language teachers Zhannur Mauytova and Nazerke Anuarova presented their research titled “Developing Students’ Critical Thinking and Reading Literacy through the Use of Historical Feature Films and Documentary Films.”

Kazakh language teachers Aigul Aitan and Anzia Assanova presented their research on “Developing Speaking Skills through Debate Activity,” sharing their findings and exchanging professional experience with conference participants. In addition, Aigul Aitan presented another research project titled “Teaching Technical Documentation through Differentiated and Creative Instructional Strategies for Improving Students’ Vocational Knowledge and Readiness for Production-oriented Tasks.”

English language teachers Shirin Daneshyar and Nagima Omarkhanova presented their research paper “The Effectiveness of Criteria-Based Assessment in Meeting the Needs of Students with SEND in Mainstream Schools in Kazakhstan.”

Kazakh language teacher Almagul Uteeva presented her research titled “Developing Seventh-Grade Students’ Research Skills through a STEAM-Based Approach.”

English language teacher Ainaz Shadkam presented her research project “Enhancing 10th Graders’ English Language Learning through Video Dubbing: A Task-Based, Creative Pedagogical Approach.”

ECER 2026 serves as an important international platform for educators to exchange experience with colleagues from different countries, present their research findings, build professional connections, and discuss current trends and developments in education.

The participation of NIS Aktau teachers in an international conference of this scale is another significant step towards strengthening the school’s research culture and showcasing the professional and research experience of its educators to the international education community.
