The Phoenix MUN 2026 Regional Conference was held on June 15–16 at the Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Astana-Nura. Bringing together more than 60 students interested in international relations and diplomacy, the conference served as an important platform for discussion and exchange of ideas among young leaders.
The main theme of this year’s conference was “Addressing Instability in the Modern World.” Participants discussed pressing global issues and proposed effective solutions to contemporary challenges.
MUN (Model United Nations) is a simulation of the United Nations. During the conference, participants assumed the roles of delegates representing different countries, defended their assigned countries’ positions, and engaged in debates on international affairs. They also drafted resolutions and took part in negotiations.
The conference was divided into four committees. Participants discussed a range of significant topics, including events of World War II, inequality that hinders sustainable development, human rights violations and ineffective governance, as well as the impact of resource scarcity on armed conflicts.
Phoenix MUN 2026 served as an important educational platform that helped students develop diplomatic culture, public speaking skills, and a deeper understanding of international affairs. Over the course of the two-day conference, young delegates not only demonstrated their knowledge and abilities but also built new friendships and strengthened their leadership skills.
